"Himno a la Libertad" / "Hymn to Liberty" : romantic and symbolist oil painting, inspired from the Verdi's opera, "Nabucco, the chorus of the slaves" and from the socially-engaged frescoes of the famous mexican painter Diego Rivera.
The humble, destitute, enslaved and damned people from all the countries, from any roots and any religions, are joining together in one voice, the living with the raising dead. They are looking up to the Messenger of Hope and Justice who is brandishing the red flag of Freedom and the fighting fist of Rebellion, irradiating all the Men with the Light of Truth and inspiring them the strength to raise their head and to recover their lost dignity... In the middle of this enthusiastic people is Jesus, coming down from the Cross and coming back amongst the Men, raising, like a symbol, just before the scared face of a former black slave, the bloody arm of the rebellion and the final liberation ... |
